Culinarium at Villa 221

Tonight's Culinarium was hosted by Villa 221(visit their site for amazing photos of the space) at NE 17th street. There was a gal band with good sound and the weather was perfect. Where was everyone? Not too big a turnout but maybe later. We left by 9:30pm, hubby very tired.

Update 1.27: Every Thursday, Villa221 will be putting on event with food and music. Last night's Paella Party was very tasty, I've never had a paella with vermecilli noodles instead of rice! I had seafood and hubby had meat, came with salad. Perfect combo. There was a fresh paella being made in those big paella pans over a propane fire, smelled wonderful.  I must be losing it, I was so hungry, forgot to take photos!

It was a bit of a deja vu touring Villa 221!  It was a shelter for homeless women and I had been there many years ago. An organization I was a member of used to provide and serve a Thanksgiving lunch for these women every year. Wow, what a HUGE CHANGE. That garden is transformed and magical! They did a fantastic job with the space, beautiful for holding events, party rentals, photo/TV commercials etc. I hope to produce some Wok Star events there.

Many of the same food trucks were there so I wanted to try something new. I told Richard Hale (Sakaya Kitchen, Dim Sam a Go Go) I needed to spread some 'love' & asked what I should try. He pointed to The Mexican Gourmet truck.

We had beef quezadilla from the Mexzican Flair section and 3 small tacos, all delicious and well prepared, most important, they were HOT! We took them to the Villa gardens to enjoy, what a treat.
