Clear on Calories!

I was recently in a TV commercial produced for the Amercian Beverage Association. Their goal was to promote healthier drinks in kids's schools, yay. Happy to be part of this. I was surprised folks who've never met me recognized me since it was only a few seconds!

From the American Beverage Association Vimeo site:

Check out “Journey,” the latest TV ad from the beverage industry, showing how America’s leading beverage companies have come together to place new calorie labels on the front of every can, bottle and pack we produce. With Clear on Calories, labels are showing up on beverages across America – with more to come over the next few months. Enjoy!

Gastropod, ChowDownGrill Fundraiser

Eat at Gastropod, sit at one of my favorite restos, Chow Down Grill in Surfside AND raise funds for Common Threads! Run, they're still there. This was a cute idea.

We were even roping folks for Saturday's KidsEatMiami.com on Jungle Island, you must buy tickets ahead. See schedule and lineup of chef demos here, myself included.  Looking forward to wokking with the kiddies! We also snagged an Iron Chef contestant, Chef Dena Marino who'll be headlining and closing the event.

Here's the post of my recent cooking class with them, so enjoyed it. Love cooking with kids more than adults! They're more attentive and enthusiastic, truly.

Common Threads Wok cooking class

The amount of hands that shot up when I asked 'Who wants to stir fry?' It was great to see them cooking up Pineapple Stir Fried Rice with some to take home! Will post more photos & my experience later. Glad to be part of their day, thanks for inviting me Common Threads and Chef Alicia Cabase Toledo of Onceuponathyme.

Jamie Oliver @Jungle Island

I congratulated Jamie Oliver using a wok in his first series of Food Revolution! We caught him before all the kids & parents entered, he was making pasta.

Love him teaching kids & parents healthier eating, it's what I want to focus on this year, more about this event soon! Thanks to Paula @mango_lime for tix to Jungle Island. Enjoyed hanging behind the scenes while she worked.
