Fresh, home cooking!

First day back from my Hong Kong trip & already craving fresh steamed yellowtail with lots of ginger & scallions on top of black quinoa. Just before serving, drizzle some tamari, you don't need anything else, so flavorful. Had this with a simple stir fried broccoli. I couldn't believe the fishmonger didn't scale the fish. In Asia, it's a given! Not fun, scales flew everywhere, so warning you to get it scaled.

Turkey, Black Quinoa Bean Soup on a Hot Day

Hot soup is supposed to 'cool' you like drinking hot tea in Summer. Well, it was definitely a summer's day! I love turkey soup with celery, carrots, tomatoes. Instead of potatoes, I added black quinoa to give some texture. First time I've seen black quinoa. I can't waste, so threw in last bit of bean soup, worked out really well. Soup always means toast.

Alternative St.Patrick dinner

Last minute menu change cause I had to cook all the pork shoulder and use up a lot of vegetables in the fridge. When you grill pork, you have to eat it fresh! I used my favorite MySpiceSage.com Hot Curry Powder, it always turns out succulent and hits the spot. Made some red quinoa, stir fried zucchini, carrots, snow peas. I had stir fried 2 wokfuls of mushrooms, boy do they shrink or what! My hubby kept saying "umm, delicious!" so guess he enjoyed.
