Sakaya Kitchen Nails Korean Banchan

My trip to Hong Kong made me so homesick for Asian food, the first place I wanted to go was Sakaya Kitchen. Richard Hales nails Korean flavors down, he sent over Banchan (little pickled dishes like kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumbers, toufu to go with Bulgogi BBQ.) They're not on the menu, he made them special for me, thanks Richard!!!  I'm working on a blog post and video of Sakaya, so overdue. I've been going since day one and now he and Jenny have 2 adorable kids and 2 food trucks as well, not sure how he juggles it all.  Keep up the good work Richard.

My friend had chicken with salad, so tender.

One of my fav at Sakaya Kitchen is Spicy Dae Ji pork tenderloin with coconut rice & buttered broccoli. It encompasses all the flavors that make me think of Asia!

These are the most delicious scallions bathed in soy, vinegar and secret ingredients, yum.

Satisfying Asian Eats

Thanks Sakaya Kitchen for welcoming me back to Miami. Sending over Banchan saved me from my sudden 'dry' good Asian food spell after returning from Hong Kong! Your Dae Ji Spicy Pork tenderloin with coconut rice and buttered broccoli is my fav there. Watch out for my upcoming post, only a year late and two babies later! (Richard's not mine!)

Sakaya's Dae Ji Pork Tenderloin, Coconut Rice, Buttered Broccoli

Sakaya is perfect Eats before an Art Walk! Right slap between Wynwood & Design District. Uh, I know they have the food trucks at Wynwood but we decided to sit down, personal choice.

Fast but oh so good. The sauce from the pork tenderloin was perfectly balanced, slightly sour, spicy & little sweet, topped with sprinkles of peanuts for crunch. We don't usually even eat white rice but when it's coconut rice, well, you can't stop, so addictive.

If you've not been here, you're seriously missing some of the best fresh Asian food, enjoy.

Sakaya's Crispy Duck Herb Sandwich

YUM!!! Duck as you all know is one of my favs! Gotta eat when you've had wine, the dainty bites at the Ribera tasting wasn't enough. This hit the spot! I love Sakaya, good food, so convenient, easy to drop in on route. I nearly always see someone I know. Chef Richard Hales & Sandy Shapiro, AIWF came over for catchup.

Art Basel Preview & Sakaya Kitchen's Bulgogi Burger!

Sakayaburger

Sakaya Kitchen's nice juicy Angus Beef burger and spicy tater tots.

I know, I know, I know!  Once in a while, Sakaya Kitchen's nice juicy Angus Beef burger and spicy tater tots are just the right, quick dinner to have on the run. Must say it's so convenient being right there between our stops.

Gorgeous flower arrangements

There were delish nibbles but nibbles that just filled the corners during the preview of Artsforabetterworld, Soho Studios.  Saw many artists we knew...

Ross Power's marine habitat steel sculpture, FOCUS right by the door. Ross was actually inside it with some reporters taking photos. We have known Ross way back when he first opened Power Studios in Design District. We so enjoyed attending many musical/art events that were unique and intimate in a beautiful environment.  We love to hear Ross' latest projects.

Sidhoeltzell

Sid Hoetzell was the photographer who took photos of Ross Power's sculpture.  He was looking super duper dapper in an all black suit and shirt. Apart from being an ace photographer, Sid is also a lovable character and a foodie.  We've been lucky to be included in many of his yummy BBQ's. Gourmet sausages and all sorts of goodies. Sid is also a WOK STAR! Need photos, Sid.

Detail of Natasha's dress made out of t-shirts!

Natasha Duwin, an artist who uses non-traditional materials to construct pieces using weaving, embroidery and needlework. I love her work and now can add her as a WOK STAR! She'll be giving her last 'tapestry' class this year. Visit her studios, #107, Art Center South Florida on Lincoln Road.

Ralphdavid

Ralph and David

David Benoliel gave us the scoop on how he pulled his OUTSTANDING exhibit together in only 2 weeks!  That's incredible to get all the models, makeup, scheduling, CONGRATULATIONS!!! We recently attended a photography workshop at his beautiful studio which had a seamless wall backdrop, very clever.

Also saw foodie friends, Jean Marc de Silva and Daniel Spring, oh, forgot to take photos with them, boo. Ralph, Barbara & Barry

Lovely to bump into Barbara & Barry Goldin.  I met them when I had the pleasure of helping with the PR and fundraising events for the Fisher Island Philanthropic Fund. Here's a video Ralph produced which explains all the wonderful things they do. Barry is their Allocations Committee Chair, I enjoyed meeting and working with many residents on the Island who donated their time and effort to raise funds for at-risk youth.

Get out and enjoy all the Art Basel events, so many they make me dizzy.
