Cooking Class through eyes of New Times blogger!

Newtimesreview

One of the things I have a problem with is not being able to 'see' because as many entrepreneurs know, you get too 'close' to your own project. So, it's refreshing to 'see' my cooking class through the eyes of a New Times blogger! I'm always nervous about reviews because you have no control over the outcome.

It's uncanny when folks recognize you from the article.  That's what happened at Sunday's CHINATOWN Festival!

Buy What's Fresh & Seasonal

I like shopping at Laurenzo's in North Miami or Farmers' Markets, here's a list of many including nationally. They always get new stuff & are not packaged in bulk like supermarkets. Single folks can get just one and not let veggies spoil. I never know what I'm going to cook and even then, I may change my mind mid stream! Life is too short to go the straight & narrow. That's what being a Wok Star is all about! Experimenting if I can post while I wait in line - success!

Lyons Spa host Chinese New Year Wok Star cooking class

Photo

What a beautiful space to give my class! It's customary to give red packets with money for good luck during Chinese New Year, but instead I gave my 'sought after' little buddhas in the packets. I mentioned the New Year 'treats' were eaten before the savory meal, a big no, no in my mother's eye's. A retort shot back, it's OK, she's not here!

Staging a 'welcoming' & beautiful presentation is so important to me. I love that big antique wood table, everyone was milling around it and made for great conversation!

Christmas Wok Star!

Photo

Very funny making exchange in car park on Christmas Eve but not complaining! A new enthusiastic and eager Wok Star drove all the way from Ft. Lauderdale to pick up Two Kits and Two Gas Stoves!!!

Love hearing what was tipping point to getting my Kit! - my hubby's hilarious Care & Feeding of your Wok on YouTube! Over 46,000 views!!!

Folks love getting all the goodies but best was when I showed Mark his new cast iron wok which I personally seasoned. He was so impressed with beauty & how light it was! He voiced the same complaints I always hear - soupy puddles using other woks!

Gave him a few pointers for firm stem veg & best cuts of meat to use for stir frying.

He & wife are coming to classes next year. Should be fascinating to see how a Wok Star who's already used his Kit prior to a class, um!
